God is on the Throne!

Don’t give up!  You will face resistance in trying to spend time with God.  The other day (day 2), I was attempting to spend time with God and the phone rang three different times, and our dog went crazy because someone came too close to our house.  It was clear that satan didn’t want me to spend quiet time with the Lord.  I persisted on this occasion but if you have missed a day, or haven’t started yet, why not start (or start again) tomorrow.

A Father's Testimony

My daughter lived 780 days (2 years and 2 months) and we often wondered after she died, if she knew Jesus.  She Did!  We know we will see her again and I hope her story will be a comfort to others who have experienced loss.  May God comfort you and bless you!

A Closer Walk with God - Challenge

In our men’s Bible study this past Saturday morning we talked about ‘fear and love’ in the Bible.  I wondered out loud to the group,

‘Do we truly experience a daily tangible relationship with God?‘.

I said, I’m sure we have all had times where we felt close to Him (and multiple heads shook in agreement) but do we have an intimate connection with him daily?  If we did, we probably would better understand what it means to ‘fear’ breaking that relationship with Him.

How to begin to pray

“Let a man begin in prayer where he is, and that means anywhere, with any problem, with any desire. If what he asks for has him in its grip, that means that God can meet him there. If he has a ruling passion to be liked by others, to be selected to an important post, to be able to hold his marriage together, to recover the confidence of a son or daughter, why should this not come squarely into his prayer?

No need to clean up your thoughts before going to God in prayer. The Holy Spirit will do that during the conversation. Amen!

Small Group Opportunities

Last week, we kicked off the year with breakfast. Kevin Gillen spoke to us about being an example in our homes. This is our first and in many ways our primary missionary field. So it was a very appropriate way to kick off our year.

Two small groups are now available for you to join to continue the conversation. These groups provide a safe environment to share, be encouraged and to grow together in Christ. I hope you will take advantage of them.

God's Response to Our Wounds

Review

• We are all impacted by our parents. Their actions, their example and their love.
• Since they are imperfect (like us), we are wounded.
• These wounds leave us unsure about ourselves and afraid that we will be exposed as less then what we appear to be.
• They are a lie, that says we are unworthy or not valuable.
• Like any lie or half truth, it can cause us to respond incorrectly.
• Even Jesus needed to hear words of affirmation from his father.

You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased. - Luke 3:22

Galatians 4:4-7
